The Courtyard House reimagines the archetypal Australian home by centering life around a luminous, open-air void. Inspired by the vernacular of breezy verandas and shaded gardens, the design creates a sanctuary that balances openness with privacy.

At the heart of the residence, a planted courtyard blurs boundaries between interior and exterior. Every room frames a shifting tableau of light, sky, and greenery, ensuring nature is never more than a glance away. Deep overhangs and operable screens respond to the harsh Australian sun, while cross-ventilation strategies minimize mechanical cooling.

The house embodies a quiet radicalism: rather than expanding outward, it turns inward — crafting intimacy, connection, and respite in the middle of suburban density.
